Croatian A1.1 for Foreign Employees

Who is the Croatian A1.1 course for?
The course is intended for foreigners and foreign employees who are just beginning to learn Croatian and want to develop basic communication skills for living and working in Croatia.
Is the programme suitable for complete beginners?
Yes. The A1.1 programme is intended for people who do not yet speak Croatian or know only a few basic words and expressions. Lessons begin with basic vocabulary, pronunciation and simple sentences.
How long does the course last?
The programme consists of 70 teaching hours. The usual schedule is two 90-minute sessions per week, while a more intensive schedule may be arranged depending on the programme and group.
How are the online lessons delivered?
Online lessons are delivered live with a teacher at agreed times. Participants take part in conversations, complete exercises, ask questions and receive feedback during lessons.
When can I start the course?
For individual courses and courses for two participants, the start date is arranged according to the availability of the teacher and participants. Group courses begin after a suitable group has been formed.
What group sizes are available?
Available options include an individual course, a course for two participants, a mini group of 3 to 6 participants, a standard group of 7 to 12 participants and a large group for 13 or more participants.
Can a company enrol foreign employees?
Yes. Companies can arrange a programme for a smaller team or a larger group of foreign employees. Lessons can be delivered online and, for large groups, in person by agreement.
Can lesson times be adapted to shift work?
For company programmes, the course schedule and lesson frequency are agreed according to the employer’s organisational requirements and employee work schedules.
What knowledge assessment is included in the course price?
The course price includes preparation, an internal final knowledge assessment and a Smart jezici certificate indicating the level achieved in accordance with CEFR guidelines.
The official standardised examination is taken and paid for separately at an authorised institution. The Smart jezici certificate is not a substitute for an official certificate issued by an authorised institution.
What are the requirements for the included final assessment?
To take the internal final knowledge assessment included in the course price, participants must attend at least 70% of lessons and keep their camera switched on during online lessons.
Participants who do not meet these requirements may take the final assessment at a later date for an additional fee.
Is there an enrolment fee?
No. There is no additional enrolment fee for the listed programmes.

Official Croatian Language Examination
Where can you take the official Croatian language examination?
The Croatian Ministry of Science, Education and Youth publishes the official list of institutions authorised to deliver Croatian language and Latin script education programmes and examinations for foreign nationals.
Important: the official examination at an authorised institution is not included in the Smart jezici course fee. It is taken and paid for separately according to the conditions of the selected institution.
